Another Contending Team Checks in on Free Agent Malik Beasley

Malik Beasley's name has been all over NBA news this off-season for his off-court drama, with the veteran remaining a free agent due to the investigation into him. Now that is mostly behind him, he's officially available to be signed, with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and his former team the Detroit Pistons all expressing interest in him.

That interest now reportedly continues to grow, as Michael Scotto is now reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves have also checked in on the 28-year old free agent.

In these reports, it's not been clear just how much discussion has taken place between the player and these teams, but given his connections to Minnesota, a reunion would make sense. In the early 2020's, Beasley spent three seasons with the T-Wolves, and after finding his role in Detroit last season, he established himself as an elite shooter that any contender would love to have off the bench.

With the team having a lack of experience on the bench in their backcourt with Terrance Shannon Jr. and Rob Dillingham, that makes Beasley's potential role with the team even more exciting. In 2024/25, the former No. 19 pick averaged 16 points a night on 42% from beyond the arc, and given how he played in the post-season, he would be a great pickup for any of these contenders.

Ultimately though, with the investigation still hanging over his head, it's unclear when a deal could potentially get done, but with so many contenders interested in Beasley, it's likely to happen before camp begins.
