Chicago Bulls Set to Release Veteran Star If No Trade Partner is Found

The Chicago Bulls have been mired in trade speculation for a number of years, and after moving veterans Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan in recent years, that leaves just one more veteran likely to be moved. That would be veteran center Nikola Vucevic, who has been speculated upon for quite some time, but for the past two seasons, Chicago has decided to hold onto him.

This off-season, the team has seemingly been open to moving Vucevic on the back of a season in which he averaged 19 points and 10 boards, but thus far, no teams around the NBA have been interested in giving up valuable assets to land him.

Now, the latest update from Yahoo Sports is a surprising one, as they have revealed that the Bulls are prepared to release Vucevic if they can't find an appropriate trade partner for him this offseason.

The 2025-26 season will be the final year in Chicago on Vucevic's current deal, where he is getting paid just over $21 million. However, given that the Bulls want to get younger and give other players more opportunities, his role on the team has simply become redundant.

Still, given that he can produce 19 points a night on solid efficiency to go along with 10 boards, it's crazy to think that no team out there wants to take a chance on the 34-year-old, but as of right now, all signs are pointing towards him being released in the next few months before the season begins.
