New York Knicks Looking To Sign Injury-Prone Mitchell Robinson to 'Team Friendly Deal'

The New York Knicks made their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2000 last season, and now, they're confident they can take the final step towards an NBA Championship. One key member of the team that has been there through the struggles is Mitchell Robinson, and after another injury prone campaign, he came back with a fury, becoming a monster on the boards in their post-season run.

Now, the 27-year old is eligible for a new deal as a free agent in 2026, and unsurprisingly, the Knicks want to keep their former second-round pick for years to come. According to reporter James Edwards however, the team would need it to be a 'team friendly deal' to get the job done, as there are fears that his injury woes could worsen in the coming seasons.

In his NBA career thus far, Robinson has averaged 8 points and 8 boards a night, and in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, he took it to another level, posting 7 boards, 1 block and 1 steal a night as he anchored an incredible defensive group.

Unfortunately for Robinson, he's not played 60 or more games since the 2021/22 campaign, playing in just 17 regular season games a year ago, something that gives the Knicks major worries. Ultimately though, the team once signed him to a four-year, $60 million deal that paid off big time, and now, the big man is set to get a new deal, but if it's with the Knicks, it's likely to be a very team friendly deal.
