Isaiah Thomas Believes Kevin Durant Saved the Legacy of the Golden State Warriors Team

Kevin Durant's move to the Golden State Warriors was one of the most hated moves in NBA history, but in his three years with the team, they were able to win two NBA titles, and may have won a third if not for injuries. While he still continues to get hatred online for the move today, it was key to the Warriors continuing their dynasty, with some believing that he was the key to keeping it alive.

That is what NBA legend Isaiah Thomas believes, as he stated just that during his recent appearance on Dryamond Green's podcast.

“Before KD arrived in Golden State y’all were on the verge of being remembered for one of the biggest collapses in NBA Finals history.”

Most people think of Draymond's antics, the shooting of the Splash Brothers and the immense depth as the reasons why the Warriors ended up winning those titles, but given KD's impact, it's hard to argue with Thomas' assertion here. In his time with the Warriors, Durant averaged 27 points on a ridiculous 59% shooting, and with two Finals MVP's under his belt, he was a true star for this team.

Durant's legacy in Golden State will always be tough however, as many see him as a mercenary that came in to join a loaded team, win some rings and then move on to a different scenario. That is all complicated by his exit from the team as well and the drama surrounding it, and whether or not Warriors fans and players like to admit it, without Durant, things may have gone very, very differently.
