NBA Champion Marco Bellenelli Officially Retires From Basketball

The 2014 San Antonio Spurs team was one of the best in recent NBA memory, with stars all over the team as they would take down the Miami Heat to be crowned NBA Champions. From that team, we've seen Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobilli and others retire, and now, one of their key role players has followed suit.

According to a report, long-time NBA role player Marco Belinelli has officially announced his retirement from basketball.

While not one of the more notable role players in recent NBA memory, Belinelli has a solid list of accomplishments as an NBA Champion, three-point contest winner, while also dominating competitions in Europe. The 39-year old last played in the NBA with the Spurs back in 2019/20, and since that point he's gone home to dominate in Europe, becoming one of the more accomplished players in the history of European basketball.

Over his 13 year career in the NBA, Belinelli appeared in 860 regular season games, averaging a solid 10 points a game on 38% shooting in that time, with his career peak coming in San Antonio. Since departing the NBA, Belinelli has won Lega Seria A MVP along with countless trophies, with many having fond memories of him in San Antonio and the clutch shots he made throughout that era.

Now, we'll wait to see what the future holds for the former first-round pick, and with the influence he has in European basketball, it would not surprise anyone to see him as a future coach at some level of basketball.
