Three Teams That Should Pursue a Trae Young Trade if He Becomes Available
Sep 11, 2025
It is starting to feel like Trae Young’s time in Atlanta may be coming to an end. Despite helping the team make the Eastern Conference Finals a few years ago, it seems like the organization and the league as a whole are starting to sour on Young’s value. If we do see more Trae Young trade rumors start to pop up, these three teams should consider pouncing on a buy-low deal.

Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings don’t have a point guard. They also don’t have much hope. The Western Conference is going to be impossible to compete in with their current roster. One way they could give themselves a better shot is just going all in on offense. Trading for Trae Young would do just that. He, Zach LaVine, and Domantas Sabonis wouldn’t be able to stop anyone on defense, but they’d be able to score with the best.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are in a tough position. They are in one of the biggest and most lucrative markets in the league, but they don’t have a single star player or exciting young prospect. There is no reason for anyone to be excited about the Nets. Trading for Trae Young would instantly give New Yorkers a reason to care about the Nets again. Would they be any good? Probably not. After all, they did make the playoffs with a team built around D’Angelo Russell, so maybe they could do it with Trae.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls are in a similar position to the Nets. They are in a huge market that is craving a star. If the Bulls traded for Trae, they’d not only get that star but they’d instantly have a fairly realistic path to the playoffs. No, not the Play In, the Bulls’ favorite tournament, but the actual playoffs. With the Bulls' current roster, adding Trae Young could actually make them a fairly good team in the East. Bulls fans deserve to play important basketball once again.
