Buzz Growing Around Young Philadelphia 76ers Star Taking Their Qualifying Offer
Aug 8, 2025
Quentin Grimes has long shown potential in New York and Dallas, and with an extended opportunity in Philadelphia last season, he took a major leap forward after being traded there by the Dallas Mavericks. In 28 games with the team, Grimes averaged a career-high of 22 points on 47% from the field and 37% beyond the arc, showing that he could be a key piece of the team's future.
However, he's yet to get a deal done with the team this offseason, with many around the league believing that there is a chance that he will get traded while his value is high. Now, though, things have seemingly changed, with Jake Fischer noting that there's buzz out there that Grimes could instead take the 76ers’ qualifying offer.
That offer would lock him in for one year with the 76ers, giving them the opportunity for a full season to work on a new deal, and it could also give the team the guarantee they need to potentially trade him after career-best production in 2024/25.

At 25 years of age, Grimes has become the quintessential '3-and-D' player in today's NBA, and after showing what he can do late in the season with Philadelphia, people around the NBA are clearly taking notice. For now, though, all signs point to Grimes taking the Sixers’ qualifying offer for a one-year deal with the team, and if he can replicate that success, don't be surprised to see him get a very good long-term deal somewhere in the NBA.
