Trae Young Reportedly Disappointed in the Hawks For Lack of Extension Offer

Ever since being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks back in 2018, Trae Young has been one of the NBA's most electric players, earning respect around the league as one of the top point guards. In his career, Young averages 25 points and 10 assists, making him one of Atlanta's best players in franchise history despite being just 26-years of age.

He's done all this while still only now entering his prime, with the expectation around the league being that the Hawks will extend their star guard. However, no offer has come yet, and according to ESPN's Marc Spears, that has been a major disappointment to Young and his representation.

On top of that, Spears offered an ominous prediction about Young's free agency next season, revealing his belief that Young could test the market and potentially leave the only NBA team he's ever known.

"Do not be surprised at this point if he plays it out and sees what happens next summer." This isn't a guarantee of what will happen, but with no extension talks thus far, anything could happen in this situation moving forward.

At this point, letting Young go would be one of the biggest mistakes in Hawks franchise history, but if the team don't believe that Young is the point guard to take them to NBA title contention, perhaps they consider trade possibilities. For now though, this is an incredibly intriguing situation, and while most believe a deal will ultimately get done, if Young feels truly disrespected, this could end up costing the Hawks big time.
