10-Year NBA Veteran Trey Lyles Reportedly Signs New Deal Overseas

This off-season, we've seen several veteran NBA players depart for overseas contracts, and now, another has officially joined them. According to recent reports from NBA Insider Brett Siegel, 10-year NBA veteran Trey Lyles is departing the league and will sign a contract with European powerhouse Real Madrid for the upcoming season.

The 29-year old has spent the last four years with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds in that time, but with little interest on the free agency market this summer, this move makes sense. Given his age, there's a good chance he can go and have some success overseas, but with injuries and other things happening in the NBA, there's a chance that he could once again find his role in the league.

The Canadian born Lyles has played in Utah, Detroit, Denver and San Antonio as well as Sacramento in his career, averaging a respectable 8 points and 4 boards throughout that time. However, more and more young talent enter the NBA every single season, and with the game changing for big men and young stars having the ability to stretch the floor, there's less and less room for players like Lyles.

In the report, Siegel reveals that there was some interest in Lyles on a minimum deal, but signing with Real Madrid is the much more lucrative deal, so if he can improve upon his game over there, don't be shocked to see him back in the NBA in the coming years.
