Ben Simmons Agent Cuts Ties With Him Ahead Of Major Career Decision

Back in 2016, Ben Simmons was the No. 1 overall pick with the Philadelphia 76ers, and at the time, it looked like a home run pick for the rebuilding franchise. His career started off well, with some comparing him to a young LeBron James, but since the injuries began, Simmons has been a shell of his former self.

Recently, reports revealed that as a result of this, Simmons was weighing up free agency decisions or retirement, something that no teams around the NBA want to hear. Now, this has had catastrophic effects on Simmons, as his agent Bernie Lee has now officially dropped him as a client.

That comes as Simmons is weighing up whether to take the minimum, retire or push for a big contract, but after earning over $200 million in his career, the desire may simply not be there anymore. If that is still there, his agent dropping him isn't a good look, as it may mean he's asking for too much or simply become not worth the trouble, and for NBA teams, those raise major red flags.

After averaging 16, 8 and 8 early in his career with the Sixers, Simmons' career has gone down hill, as he managed just 5, 5 and 6 a year ago. Those numbers could still help a team off the bench however, so if he is willing to play for the minimum, there are teams out there that would be interested, but with no agent, things get tricky moving forward.
