NBA Insider Reveals Likely Outcome for Ben Simmons' Next NBA Contract

This off-season hasn't been a good one for Ben Simmons, as the market hasn't been as robust for him as he expected, and on top of that, his agent recently dumped him as a client. That has led to the former No. 1 overall pick reportedly weighing up retirement as he approaches 30-years of age, with his future in the NBA now clearly in doubt.

The one tea he has been consistently linked too is the New York Knicks, and with just one spot remaining on their roster and only a veteran minimum to give out, Brian Windhorst has revealed the likely outcome on his next deal.

In his latest report, the ESPN Insider noted that it's likely a minimum deal or retirement for the talented Australian, with no team willing to commit to him given his injury history and limitations with his game.

"At the end of the day Ben Simmons stock has been falling dramatically for years.”

Given his versatility on the defensive end and his talent as a playmaker however, Simmons could still make a very good living in the NBA on smaller deals, and while a bigger one could be coming later, NBA teams are forcing him to prove it this summer.

Ultimately, Simmons just hasn't been able to stay on the floor, and with reports that he's weighing up retirement, it's no surprise that teams don't want to give him a big, long-term deal, so expect a minimum or retirement from Simmons this season.
