Kyrie Irving Hints At A Quicker Than Expected Recovery From His ACL Tear

Last season was a whirlwind for the Dallas Mavericks, but even after the Luka Doncic trade, this was a team full of optimism and hope. That hope was led by Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, but unfortunately, the latter would suffer a brutal ACL injury late in the year, all but ending their post-season hopes.

Given Irving's age and his injury history, many feared that this could significantly impact his 2025/26 regular season, with some suggestions that he may not even be back at all in the regular season. Now however, Irving's latest comments have sparked hope, as he seems to hint that his recovery is now just on time, but perhaps even ahead of schedule.

"I was in the gym, doing a little bit more. I won’t tell you exactly what I was doing because it's all about incremental growth, but I can share with ya'll it was some good days in the gym. I'm healing up great. This date today, on the 26th; this will be five months post-surgery.”

As of right now, Irving is exactly five months post surgery, with an expected recovery time of 9-12 months to get back to 100%, and if he's closer to the 9 month mark, we could potentially see him back for a few months of regular season action.

Only time will tell whether or not the 33-year old can get back to 100% in time to contribute to the regular season, and while this update didn't see him make any predictions, it appears to be a very positive sign.
