Draymond Green Defends General Manager Mike Dunleavy Amid Criticism
Aug 7, 2025
The Golden State Warriors are the only team in the NBA to not make a move this offseason, and unsurprisingly, it's got many fans frustrated as they wish for one last run with this core group. There have been constant rumors surrounding Jonathan Kuminga, but reportedly, their owner wants him to remain a Warrior, and with the roster set beyond that, things have been very quiet.
That has led to immense criticism of General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., but after he received criticism on social media, Warriors star Draymond Green has stepped in to defend him.
When a fan asked Green what's up with Dunleavy, this is what the veteran big man had to say about the job his GM has done. "He's been amazing, the job is so much bigger than you all see."
In this case, two things can be true at once, as the job is very hard and perhaps he's been doing great behind the scenes, but to the public, this has been a quiet and disappointing offseason. Still, the Warriors will enter 2025–26 with confidence in a group led by Green, Steph Curry, and Jimmy Butler, but unless they make up their mind on Kuminga and other depth pieces, there could be major distractions next season.
Under Dunleavy, the Warriors have struggled to play at the level we've seen over the past decade, but with their ageing stars, it's been a tough job, with fans remaining patient as they potentially look for one last run with this beloved core group.
