'That's His Franchise'; Kevin Durant Makes Major Statement on Knicks Star Jalen Brunson
Sep 16, 2025
Kevin Durant was once seen as a top free agency target for the New York Knicks, but he ended up signing with the rival Brooklyn Nets alongside superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. Unsurprisingly, this brought the wrath of Knicks fans upon him, and to this day, many still call him out for the decision that he made, one that resulted in very little overall success.
Since that point, the Knicks have found their own savior in Jalen Brunson, who has since led the team to the NBA Playoffs in three straight years, proving that he's one of the best postseason performers in the NBA. During a recent interview, KD called out that incredible performance from Brunson, revealing that he believes Brunson will be a Hall of Fame player one day.
"That's his franchise... Hall of Fame player by the end of his career."
This is yet another NBA player showing respect to Brunson, who came into the league as a second-round pick and has now taken his game to heights that nobody quite expected. After being a backup in Dallas, Brunson has averaged 26 and 7 in his two seasons with the Knicks, and after putting up 30 a night in 42 playoff games, he's solidifying himself as a star in the league.

To make it to the Basketball Hall of Fame, a player needs sustained success at this level, so while Brunson may not be seen as a future Hall of Famer by some, if he can take the Knicks back to the NBA Finals, there's a great chance he makes it to that level one day.
