Jeff Teague Makes Major Prediction About Amen Thomason's Potential
Aug 18, 2025
Amen Thompson came into the NBA as the No. 4 pick in the 2023 Draft, and immediately he made an impact with the Houston Rockets. The twin brother of Ausar in Detroit has only improved since then, posting 14 points, 8 boards and 4 assists a season ago for a Rockets team that took a huge leap forward.
Unsurprisingly, with the team acquiring Kevin Durant, there's more expectations on the team and individuals, with many around the league believing that Thompson can take his game to another level or two in 2025/26. Now, famed NBA podcaster and former role player Jeff Teague has made a surprise prediction about Amen, showing just how much potential he may truly have.
"If he ever figures out how to shoot the ball, he's a top-10 player in the NBA."
This has sparked plenty of debate about Thompson's potential, but with the 22-year old shooting just 27% from beyond the arc this past season, it's not going to be a minor fix. However, with that length, versatility and athleticism, he's going to be a problem no matter what, but with LeBron, Steph Curry, KD and others all on the way out in the coming years, he's got time to figure it out and become one of the top players in the league.
With just 131 regular season games under his belt, Thompson has so much time to figure things out and improve, and when that does, there may be few players more valuable to his team than Amen Thompson.
