Former NBA Player is Impressed with Wembanyama's Lofty Goals

Victor Wembanyama hasn’t been shy about his chase of greatness. Wembanyama knows how special his body and skillset are, and he wants to make the most of it. Since he was a kid, he’s been preparing to be a great NBA player, and the hard work is coming to fruition.

However, now that Wembanyama has made the NBA, his goals are just getting bigger and bigger. He recently talked about how he wants to win the Defensive Player of the Year and MVP awards. He’s already a heavy favorite for DPOY, and he has a decent argument for the MVP award.

Kendrick Perkins recently went on the The Road Trippin Show and praised Wembanyama for wanting to be great.

“Wemby thank you bro. Like, seriously thank you. Because for so many years players have tried to either sh*t on certain accolades, individual accolades or down play being the face of the league. Wemby has done a complete opposite and he is not doing it as a front it comes from a real authentic place. And this is what you call setting a bar. He fu*king said I want to be in the slam dunk contest. You should want to win the MVP, I remember when Giannis was young he said, I will win the MVP one day. Like, speak that sh*t into existence. The way he approaches the game, if you’re a** don’t have on a Spurs uniform he ain’t fu*king with you. And I love it.”

Perkins is echoing what a lot of fans are feeling about Wembanyama. People love that he is a breath of fresh air. He is different than other stars. He isn’t afraid to talk smack, set high expectations, and speak what is on his mind.
