Cavaliers Guard Max Strus Undergoes Surgery: Will Miss Extended Time
Aug 26, 2025
The Cleveland Cavaliers were the best regular season team in the East in 2024/25, and coming into the new year, they're optimistic they can do the same again in 2025/26. With all of the injuries around the Eastern Conference, Cleveland and New York stand as the clear favourites, and with so much depth and star power, the Cavaliers have a chance to make a deep run.
Unfortunately, they've now been hit with some bad news, as top NBA Insider Shams Charania has announced guard Max Strus has undergone foot surgery and will miss between 3 and 4 months of action.
Based on that timeline, the 29-year old is likely to be back between December and January, meaning the team can hope he'll be back to 100% health by the run into the NBA Playoffs. Thankfully for the Cavaliers, they've got the depth to cover the loss of Strus, as DeAndre Hunter and Dean Wade among others are names that can step in and produce in his absence, with this being one of their biggest strengths.

This past season, Strus posted 10 points a night on 39% shooting from beyond the arc, and with his combination of size and shooting, he's become a key piece of the Cavaliers rotation. For now though, the team will need to go deep into the season without him, and if the rest of the team can stay healthy, there's optimism that this team can once again fight for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
