Markieff Morris Opens Up On The Miami Heat's Handling Of His Injury at the Hands Of Nikola Jokic

Back in 2022, Markieff Morris played in 17 games with the Miami Heat as they looked to get back to the NBA Finals under Jimmy Butler. Unfortunately, his season was cut short by injury in an altercation with Nikola Jokic saw him helped off the court following a shoulder from behind by the three-time MVP.

That injury would keep him out for six months, and while he's returned to the NBA to relative success since, he's not been the same player following the injury. Now, the veteran forward has opened up on the situation, calling out the Miami Heat for mishandling the situation, noting that it was a simple two-week injury that they stretched out.

“It was a two-week injury. I got cleared in two weeks, but they made it seem — because Miami wouldn’t allow me back on the court — that I was injured for six months.”

Perhaps only those in Miami know why this happened, but if he was cleared after two weeks, it's very confusing as to why the team wouldn't allow him back. Morris would finish the 2021/22 campaign with just 17 games played, but since then he's been solid, although his career appears to be winding down after playing just 15 games a season ago.

While it didn't end his career, this incident with Jokic certainly derailed it, and now we will wait to see if someone in the Heat organization responds to the accusations from Morris that they kept him out despite being cleared to return.
