NBA Reporter Reveals Jonathan Kuminga's Asking Price with the Warriors
Jul 28, 2025
When the Golden State Warriors drafted Jonathan Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick back in the 2021 NBA Draft, he was seen as a project, but with great length at 6-foot-8 and good offensive upside, it was a pick worth the risk.
Four years later however, Kuminga still hasn't taken the leap that the Warriors were hoping for, and although he's averaged 16 and 15 points over the past two seasons, the team are hesitant to keep him. Many were questioning why the Warriors wouldn't want to keep the 22-year old long term after the offensive upside he's flashed in the NBA, and now, we may know why.
According to Insider Brett Siegel, not only does Kuminga not want to be back with the Golden State Warriors, likely due to the lack of a role they've given him, but even if he did, he's seeking a new deal of $30 million or more per season. While he still has a very bright future in the NBA on the back of shooting 51% from the field in his first four NBA seasons, Kuminga just hasn't proven he's worth that much yet, and it's one of the reasons why the Warriors are ready to move on from him.
At the end of the day, it's just a matter of time until both parties move on from one another, as a long-term deal may not be reached between them this off-season, but if he continues to demand this type of money, there aren't many teams out there in the NBA that will be willing to hand him a deal, so keep a close eye on this situation.
