Two Top Suitors Emerge For Ben Simmons In Free Agency

Ben Simmons was once one of the most hated and unreliable players in the NBA, but after making a comeback with the Los Angeles Clippers a year ago, he's emerging as one of the top free agents currently on the market. The 28-year has now played in more than 50 games in back-to-back seasons, and while teams in free agency are still hesitant to pay him big money, there's certainly interest in him after the flashes he showed with the Clippers down the stretch in 2025/26.

So much so that reportedly, there are two big suitors in the running to land the former No. 1 overall pick, with Jake Fischer reporting that both the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings are seen as teams willing to land the talented guard.

While he averaged just 5.0 points a game a season ago, Simmons is still a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end of the floor, and with five rebounds and six assists per game, off the bench he could be a weapon for either of these contending teams. Unfortunately for Simmons, after the injury plagued few years he's dealt with, he's not going to get a big deal with a salary of $35 million like he did on his last deal, as he'll now potentially have to take close to the veteran minimum, especially with the off-season rolling on and teams already filling out their rosters.

It's unclear which of the two teams between Sacramento and New York are most likely to land Simmons, as there would likely be interest from other teams if he's willing to take the minimum, but for now, keep a close eye on his free agency status as he could play a big role for a contending team in 2025/26.
