New York Knicks Interested In Recently Cleared Malik Beasley

This off-season hasn't been an ideal one for Malik Beasley at this point, as it came to light that he was the figure of a federal investigation into gambling, but now, things have changed. On Friday, it was revealed that he is now clear of that, and while the effects of the investigation will be felt in free agency, he's still drawing plenty of interest.

The Detroit Pistons have left a spot open for him in case of this very situation, but now, it's been reported by Jake Fischer that the New York Knicks are interested in filling out their roster with Beasley.

“Yet New York has also been cited as a team that could pursue Malik Beasley after ESPN reported Friday that Beasley is no longer the target of a federal gambling investigation. I'm told that the Knicks have maintained a level of interest in Beasley since the teams met in the first round of the playoffs in May and now the sharpshooter appears poised to become an unexpected late-summer free agent of note after the launch of the investigation just as free agency was about to commence led Detroit to scrap its plans to sign him to a new three-year, $42 million deal.”

The Knicks interest in Beasley likely came during their first-round series in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, and with the team needing shooting off the bench, Beasley fits the bill perfectly.

Last season, Beasley shot 42% from beyond the arc, and with a bench that's likely to include Miles McBride, Jordan Clarkson, Guershon Yabusele and Mitchell Robinson, Beasley would fill out that rotation perfectly. Unsurprisingly, there's set to be interest in Beasley beyond the Knicks and Pistons as well, but given their status as a potential NBA title contender in 2025/26, it may be hard for Beasley to pass up the opportunity.
