Golden State Warriors Expresses Interest In Young Kings Star Keon Ellis

Keon Ellis has quickly emerged as one of the most intriguing young 3-and-D guards in the entire NBA, and after breaking out with the Sacramento Kings, he's drawing interest on the trade market. One of those teams has now been revealed as the Golden State Warriors, a team looking to unload disappointing former first-round pick Jonathan Kuminga, but thus far, it appears that Sacramento have kept Ellis off limits.

In his third season with the Kings in 2024/25, Ellis had a career year with 8.3 points, 2.7 boards and 1.5 assists per night, and while the numbers don't quite pop yet, the impact he has on the game on both ends of the floor certainly does. On four three pointers a night last season, Ellis shot a solid 43% from the floor, and with the Warriors looking to move on from Kuminga after a disappointing start to his career, Ellis would be the focal point of a deal coming back to Golden State.

After acquiring Jimmy Butler to pair with Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Ellis could be a key piece of the Warriors starting lineup moving forward along with Buddy Hield, but as of right now, a deal between the two sides doesn't appear to be close.

At the end of the day, the Kings likely have enough assets to get a deal done for Kuminga without giving up Ellis, but given what we've seen the Warriors front office accomplish in the era of Steph Curry, anything could happen here, with this situation one to monitor throughout the rest of the summer.
