Dallas Mavericks Officially Waive Talented Young Forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper

The Dallas Mavericks, despite the shocking trade last season and injuries have built a fantastic roster, and it's one that's set to compete in 2025/26. When Kyrie Irving returns, the lineup of Irving, Thompson, Flagg, Davis and Lively with Russell, Christie, Washington and Gafford off the bench is one of the best in the Western Conference.

The team isn't lacking for depth either, with a young player like Olivier-Maxence Prosper showing over the last two years that he has a future in the NBA. Unfortunately for the 23-year old Canadian, he has now officially been waived, with the Mavericks parting ways with the former first-round pick.

That report comes from Shams Charania, who revealed the team have moved on from him after playing in 52 games a season ago, averaging 4 points and 2 boards in 11 minutes per game.

The reason behind the move? The Mavericks have been looking to sign free agent Dante Exum, but to fit him into their roster, they needed a follow-up move, with Prosper making the most sense as the player to be waived. Simply put, neither of these players will be in the Mavericks top-10 of the rotation, but given the experience of Exum, it's an understandable move.

At 23-years of age, the 6-foot-8 power forward still has a very bright future ahead, and while he's not been given an extended opportunity in the NBA, whenever he is given that, it appears that he may be a genuine contributor in the league one day.
