Chris Paul Officially Signs With A Former Team in Free Agency
Jul 31, 2025
Even at 40 years of age, Chris Paul was once again very productive in 2024/25 with the San Antonio Spurs, and now, it appears he's set to go around for another season. While many believe this could be his last season in the NBA, that's yet to be confirmed, but on Monday, we got confirmation of Paul's newest team, as he has officially re-signed with one of his former teams.
With the move, Paul rejoins the Clippers years after defining the franchise in their “Lob City” era, signing just days after the team acquired Bradley Beal to give them one of the deepest lineups in the NBA. With Paul locked in, the Clippers’ bench will likely be Paul, Bogdan Bogdanović, Derrick Jones Jr., Nicolas Batum, and Brook Lopez, and with a starting lineup of Harden, Beal, Leonard, Collins, and Zubac, it's easy to see why Clippers fans are incredibly excited about this move.
Paul may not be the player he once was, but he's averaged 9 points, 7 assists, and 4 boards over the past two seasons with Golden State and San Antonio, and given his veteran presence and ability to lead a lineup, being the sixth man for the Clippers is the perfect role for him in 2025/26.
At the end of the day, this may be CP3's last season in the NBA after a long, illustrious career that began 17 years ago, and whether it ends with a championship or not, he'll likely finish his career in 2026 with the team he's most remembered for.
