Brooklyn Nets Give Cam Thomas Major Contract Ultimatum
Aug 22, 2025
Cam Thomas has shown off his amazing scoring ability for the Brooklyn Nets in recent years, but given some of the criticism over the way he gets it done, it's no surprise that the organization are hesitant to commit long-term. This off-season, we've seen plenty of reports on Thomas and the Nets, with the talented 23-year old reportedly demanding big money, but as of right now, the team don't seem interested in paying him long-term.
That's led to a major standstill between the two parties, and now, it appears as though the franchise have given him a major ultimatum. According to reports, there's a two-year, $28 million deal on the table for Thomas, with the team drawing a line in the sand; it's either that or he signs the one-year, $6 million qualifying offer to become a free agent next season.
On paper, given the way Thomas has been talked about by fans and his representation, taking the qualifying offer to become a free agent should be a no-brainer, but that's a big risk. The $14 million AAV deal over two years may not be the big payday Thomas was expecting or hoping for, but it does give him some level of security and a decent pay for two seasons, while the qualifying offer comes with major risk.

As of right now, it's unclear which direction Thomas is leaning, and while he's got a bright future ahead if he can stay healthy, how he handles this situation could go a long way to determining his future in the NBA.
