Chris Paul's Next Team Revealed as Free Agent Signing Proves Imminent
Aug 20, 2025
Chris Paul's long and illustrious career has taken him from New Orleans to Los Angeles, from Houston to Phoenix, from Oklahoma City to Golden State, and after a stint in San Antonio, the veteran guard may be set to sign the final NBA contract of his career this off-season. While nothing has been made official just yet, it appears there is mutual interest in bringing CP3 back to the Clippers, and as of right now, all signs point to the two sides reuniting this summer as they look to go further than they ever did the last time they worked together.
While the 40-year old point guard isn't the player he once was when he helped create the iconic 'Lob City', he can still get it done at a high level, and as a backup guard for a team with James Harden and Bradley Beal as the starting backcourt, he can thrive. In 2024/25 with the young San Antonio Spurs, Paul posted 8.8 points and 7.4 assists a game in just 28 minutes played, and while the expectations for him in LA won't be much higher, that type of production and leadership off the bench will be invaluable for a squad looking to make a deep NBA Playoffs run in 2026.
Only time will tell if this move will pay off big for the Clippers, but after making the move to land John Collins and Bradley Beal, they didn't have much room to play with, so landing a veteran like Paul for cheap could end up being a brilliant move for this team.
