Minnesota Timberwolves Locking in Bones Hyland For Their Final Roster Spot
Aug 29, 2025
The Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the more loaded rosters in the NBA, and in a highly competitive Western Conference, there's optimism that they can compete for a spot in the NBA Finals. However, they still have one spot remaining on their roster, with the team ideally looking to add a guard with NBA experience, and in free agency, there are still many options available as training camp approaches
While the likes of Ben Simmons and Malcolm Brogdon are still available, all signs are now point towards a familiar face in Bones Hyland. According to Jake Fischer, the team are 'actively trying to work through the financial details' of a contract with Hyland, who would serve as great depth for a team that will play Rob Dillingham in a huge role this season.
Last season, Hyland played in 24 games between LA and Minnesota, with the career 10 PPG player showing why he deserves a spot on this team in 2025/26. While Hyland has never played more than 20 minutes a night in a season, he's shown that he can be a positive on both ends of the floor, and with the offensive upside of Dillingham off the bench, Hyland is the perfect depth piece for this team.

There's still time for the Timberwolves to pivot towards another option, but right now all signs point to Hyland taking their final roster spot as they look to finally make that deep push that fans have been waiting for in the past few years.
