Former Villanova Wildcats Head Coach Agrees To Join Charlotte Hornets Staff

There has been plenty of change around the NBA this off-season, and with so many new coaches in place, the upcoming campaign will be plenty of fun. Now, the up-and-coming Charlotte Hornets have added another intriguing coach to their staff, in the form of former Villanova Wildcats Head Coach Kyle Neptune.
According to a report from Shams Charania, Neptune joins the coaching staff as an assistant, and at 40-years of age, this first journey into the NBA for Neptune will set him up big for the future.
Over the past three seasons, Neptune coached Villanova to a 54-47 record, and while the team were always competitive, he just didn't have them playing at the level the program has become accustomed too. In those three years, Villanova finished sixth in the Big East every single season, leading to Neptune's firing this off-season.

Now, he'll take his first steps into the NBA after learning under iconic coach Jay Wright between 2008 and 2022 before taking over at Fordham and eventually replacing Wright at Villanova. His tenure as coach at Villanova was ultimately highly disappointing, but given how young he is and the experience he has in a high-pressure environment, the belief is that he can be a future Head Coach in the NBA.
For now though, he'll learn under Charles Lee, a fellow 40-year old coming off the first season as a Head Coach in the NBA, and with so much youth on this staff, it's safe to say that the future is very bright in Charlotte.
