Carmelo Anthony Reveals His Pick For The 2026 NBA MVP
Mar 23, 2026
The 2025/26 NBA regular season is quickly coming to an end, and while the post-season is nearing, there's still so much happening before we know the final standings for the regular season. While some conversations appear to be wrapped up, others will be decided over the final few weeks of the season, with the MVP award still up for grabs after Luka Doncic catapulted himself into contention over the past few weeks.
However, despite Doncic's recent play, many believe that reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is once again the favorite, with the team set for the No. 1 seed yet again in the Western Conference. That's something that former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony agrees with, as he recently revealed his MVP pick as the Thunder superstar.
“The players know who the real MVP is. That’s all that matters… To me I think it’s clear cut. I think it’s SGA. Best team in the NBA. Best player on the team. That’s hard to argue and the man averaging 30. When you see a MVP, you know.”
On paper, this should be a much more competitive race, and while many believe SGA's 32 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds per game make him the MVP, Doncic is putting together a very good push late in the season.

Ultimately, the MVP award has been hotly contested for a number of years now, and while Doncic could make it a contest, as of right now, Melo believes that SGA should go back-to-back for the prestigious award.
