Kevin Durant Reveals His Thoughts About Retirement

The old guard of NBA stars is quietly being phased out. For the last two decades, players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have been the face of the league and the best players in it. Now, there’s a new crop of young stars who are cementing themselves as the new era of NBA superstars.

That being said, James, Curry, and Durant are still playing at an extremely high level. They certainly aren’t as dominant as they used to be, but as they get up there in age, their games have declined.

This decline has many wondering when they will finally retire. Kevin Durant recently spoke about retirement and what’s going through his mind when it comes to hanging up his sneakers.

"There's gonna come a time when it's not my place, and we're creeping closer to that. And it's crazy to think about as the season winds down... This is what I spent all my life doing, every day. This is a part of my routine. This is what I center my life around, is the game. So, to know that, having a handful of years, hopefully, left to do this, gotta start getting prepared for that next phase."

Durant can feel retirement creeping up on him, but he still isn’t ready to give up basketball. Durant still has a lot of quality play left in him, and he plans to do his best to stay on the court for the next few years.

LeBron is showing everyone that 40 year olds can still ball, and Durant may be watching and thinking that he too could play into his 40s.
