Top NBA Insider Reveals The Los Angeles Lakers As A Potential Destination For Chris Paul

On Wednesday, the entire NBA world was shocked as the Los Angeles Clippers abruptly moved on from veteran Chris Paul, with his last season in the league now up in the air. According to reports, issues behind the scenes led to the Clippers' front office getting fed up with CP3, and with the team's struggles, they believed it was best to simply move on from the point guard.

At 40 years of age, his best years are clearly long in the rearview mirror, but given his leadership and his potential as a Sixth Man, there's going to be interest in Paul now that he's free. That interest could come very close to home as well, as ESPN Insider Bobby Marks believes that the Lakers could be a good fit for CP3, although they wouldn't be able to make that signing in the near future.

“The Los Angeles Lakers have an open roster spot and could be an option next month, but they are not allowed to sign a 15th player until Jan. 19.”

Right now, the Lakers are without a proven point guard off the bench, instead running Gabe Vincent as their backup at the one, and with Paul having a relationship with LeBron James, it's a situation that could make sense.

Given Paul's performance this season, it's unclear just how many teams would be interested in him, but for a contender that needs a veteran presence off the bench, he could be the perfect option.
