Philadelphia 76ers Reportedly Looking To Move Off Two Veterans Ahead of Next Season
Sep 8, 2025
The Philadelphia 76ers roster has undergone immense change in recent times, with the team adding some intriguing young talents over the past 24 months. Those talents include Quentin Grimes, Jared McCain and V.J. Edgecombe, and with this young core growing, the need for veterans has lessened in Philly.
The latest report from Jake Fischer shouldn't come as much of a surprise then, as he has revealed buzz around the NBA that suggests they are looking to move on from Kelly Oubre Jr. and Andre Drummond.
"There has been buzz all summer long about the Sixers looking to potentially move one of, if not both, Andre Drummond or Kelly Oubre Jr."
In a wide open Eastern Conference this year, there are many that believe when healthy, this Sixers team could potentially be a threat, but with a young core emerging, it makes picking a direction for this team very tough. With Joel Embiid and Paul George still on the roster, there's a chance this team can compete, but if they move off Oubre and Drummond, it's a signal that the organization is looking towards the future.

It's unclear however whether this report on Oubre Jr. and Drummond suggests a buyout or a trade, with the team likely looking to deal them, but if not, a buyout is a very likely possibility. These choices will be a few of the tough ones facing Sixers President Daryl Morey, but if he gets them right and makes the right moves going forward, this is a team that has immense potential.
