Ben Simmons Reportedly Turns Down New York Knicks Contract Offer

Ben Simmons became a free agent this summer after splitting 2024/25 between the Nets and Clippers, and with training camp around the corner, he remains without a new team. That comes despite interest from several teams, but to this point, those interested parties have reportedly only offered him the minimum.

That includes the New York Knicks, and while they've reportedly not made him an official offer, according to reporter Marc Stein, Simmons has knocked back their interest on a veteran minimum.

“The Knicks, league sources said, indeed offered a one-year contract to Ben Simmons that the former All-Star passed on. New York is limited to minimum contract offers as training camps draw near and Simmons entered the summer hopeful of securing a contract above the minimum after he split last season between the Nets and Clippers.”

Between Brooklyn and LA a season ago, Simmons averaged 5 points, 5 boards and 6 assists a night, and while he can be useful on the defensive end as well, given his injuries, it's easy to see why teams want to stick to the minimum. However, the former No. 1 overall pick believes he's more valuable than that, and to this point, he's yet to receive the interest he's hoping for.

Despite the Knicks still being interested, simply put, Simmons likely isn't going to get more than the minimum offer this summer, so now, we'll wait to see if there is any more interest in him around the league after he turned down the Knicks offer.
