"I Just Don't Really Care": Rachel Banham Responds To Controversial Angel Reese Comments
Sep 9, 2025
With the Chicago Sky's season coming to a close, a strong finish isn't exactly in the cards as Angel Reese's recent comments have a far-reaching impact. Despite Reese's strong message for Sky players and executives alike, at least one of her teammates is refusing to get caught up in the drama.
In an interview with Joseph McBride of The Mirror US, Sky guard Rachel Banham made it clear that any war of words was beneath her. Though Banham was one of the players called out by Reese, the 11-year pro responded with a dismissive tone rather than a wave of fury.
"I think I just don't really care. I'm so over all of this s***," Banham told McBride. "If I was younger, it would have affected me more. But I'm grown and I just don't care."
The 31-year-old Banham has certainly had her fair share of locker room discourse and emotional confrontations. After being drafted out of the University of Minnesota in 2016, Banham spent four seasons with the Connecticut Sun and another four seasons with the Minnesota Lynx.
After a brief return to Connecticut in 2024, Banham was dealt to Chicago as part of a mid-season trade. By then, Reese had already been drafted as one of the Sky's prized rookies in that year's WNBA draft.
Though the Sky have put together interesting pieces like Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, Chicago has not qualified for the playoffs for the second year in a row. The struggle to win then led Reese to voice out her opinion on the Sky front office, as well as some of her teammates.

Among other things that the two-time All-Star told the Chicago Tribune, she said that she was "not settling for the same s*** we did this year." She urged the Sky to "get great players" in order to boost their chances of making the postseason.
Reese went on to say that Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot, who is recovering from a torn ACL, can no longer be relied upon due to "the age that she's at." For making incendiary comments, Reese was suspended for the first half of the Sky's matchup with the Las Vegas Aces this past Sunday.
While Banham appeared to sweep the matter under the rug, the full implications of Reese's tirade remain to be seen as the Sky head towards the offseason.
