FIBA Reportedly Bans Fans After Racism Towards Dennis Schroder At EuroBasket
Sep 2, 2025
EuroBasket 2025 has been off to a very hot start thus far, and with so many NBA stars and European icons giving it their all, fans are getting their money’s worth. Unfortunately, it hasn't all been positive, as a star like Bogdan Bogdanovic has had to depart due to injury, and now there's another disgusting situation.
During Germany's recent matchup with Lithuania, point guard Dennis Schröder revealed that fans in the crowd screamed racial slurs in his direction. Obviously, there's no room for this in sports or anywhere in the world, and now FIBA has made an announcement regarding this.
Following the racial slurs, the fans that took part have now officially been banned for the remainder of the EuroBasket tournament, and hopefully for any further FIBA events in the near future. Through four games, Schröder's Germany has been absolutely dominant, going 4-0 in Group B with a +134 differential in the tournament, fighting through the controversy to prove they're one of the top teams in the tournament.

Recently, Schröder addressed the issue of racism in his home country, revealing his thoughts that it may have been the reason why he isn't as beloved a German player as some of the others that have come before him. Hopefully, with the action that FIBA has taken, this type of activity is discouraged by fans, as sports are for everyone both on and off the court, and with a EuroBasket to win, hopefully Schröder and his team can look past this and go on to success here.
