NBA Insider Reports Warriors Are Finalizing $11.7 Million Free Agent Deal With Al Horford
Sep 8, 2025
Is something finally happening? The Golden State Warriors' free agency hasn’t gone as planned this summer. So far, they have made zero significant signings, and the Jonathan Kuminga contract situation only seems to be getting worse.
All offseason long, fans have mainly been hearing about how Kuminga doesn’t want to play for the Warriors next season and how the Warriors are not willing to do a sign-and-trade they deem below Kuminga’s value.

This has meant that no Warriors free agent targets have been able to sign. They are all waiting to see what happens with Kuminga’s contract.
One player whom everyone expects to sign with the Warriors but hasn’t yet is Al Horford. Most expect an Al Horford-Warriors signing to happen any day now. One NBA insider reported Friday that it could be happening sooner than we think.
Rob Murrows of OOS Sports reported that “Free agent center Al Horford is finalizing a two-year, $11.7 million deal that includes a player option for the 2026-2027 season, to join the Golden State Warriors.”
If Murrows is right, that means the Warriors are finally starting to make some movement in the free agent market. This means that a ton of other Warriors free agent signings could be happening over the next few days.
Could a resolution in the Kuminga contract drama be part of those moves? Warriors fans certainly hope so. For the team to be at its best entering next season, they need to either have Kuminga bought in with a new contract or traded to another team. This Al Horford rumor could be the first of many dominoes to fall for the Warriors.
