Reigning G-League Finals MVP Signs Surprising Overseas Deal

This off-season, we've seen several former NBA players heading overseas, and now, another young, intriguing name has signed a surprising deal.

According to reports, reigning G-League Finals MVP Mason Jones has signed a deal with the Perth Wildcats in Australia for the 2025/26 season.

This would make him the second former NBA player to head Down Under this off-season, as he joins former NBA Champion Javale McGee who signed with the Illawarra Hawks earlier this summer. In Jones, the Wildcats will be getting a 27-year old that scored 22, 8 and 5 this past G-League season, and given the level in the National Basketball League, he'll be able to adapt and find success right away.

During his NBA career, Jones has appeared in 51 games, tallying 4 points and 2 boards per game in that time, but unfortunately, he hasn't been able to catch on as more than a role player. In that time, he's played in Sacramento, Houston, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, flashing signs of being a very good player.

Standing at 6-foot-4, Jones has all the tools to be a very good professional however, and after winning G-League Finals MVP a season ago, he's proven that given the opportunity, he can be a player that contributes significantly to winning. Now, we'll wait to see whether or not he can make an NBA push after landing in the NBL in Australia, but for now, they've got a very good player that can become one of the biggest names in a growing league.
