Philadelphia 76ers Name One Young Star As Untouchable In Giannis Trade Talks

The Philadelphia 76ers had a tough season in 2024–25, but this season, they've turned things around completely, with the team now sitting at 26–21. While Joel Embiid and Paul George have played roles in the turnaround, most of it can be credited to their young core led by Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes, all of whom have taken a major step forward this year.

However, the team has recently been linked to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has seemingly become available in the past few days. According to reports, the Bucks superstar is intrigued by the idea of playing with Maxey, and while they aren't favored to land him, they are seen as a legitimate destination.

If they are to pursue Antetokounmpo, it's now been revealed that Edgecombe, their 2025 No. 3 overall draft pick, is seen as an untouchable in any trade talks.

In just 43 career games, the rookie has averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 36 minutes a game, and while he may never reach the MVP level of Giannis, it makes sense that the team would want to keep him next to Maxey for the long term.

On paper, if the Sixers fail to land Antetokounmpo purely because of Edgecombe, it could be seen as a major failure for the organization, but given that they've got their eyes on their long-term future, it makes sense that they want to keep him moving forward.
