Jeff Teague Calls Out European NBA Players: 'Nobody Cares'
Aug 18, 2025
In the modern NBA, there is so much pressure on every young player entering the league to win, with fans and organization's putting so much into their teams potential success. However, the same may not be said for European players, who have become some of the best in the NBA over the past few decades, with the likes of Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic becoming dominant at the highest level.
According to Jeff Teague however, they don't face the same level of pressure and expectation as American born players, and the possibility of losing may not bother them the way it would for those players.
"European players, if they don’t win, once they leave, they don’t even live here — nobody cares… I learned that from Dennis Schroder."
The reason behind that? According to Teague's conversations with Dennis Schroeder, it's because they don't live in the United States after retirement, meaning they aren't as bothered by the external pressures of NBA franchises.
That's not to say that players don't want to win however, but at the end of the day, many, like Jokic treat it as a job, and if they don't win in their careers, they head back to Europe after making their money and worry little about their time in the NBA. With more and more players entering the NBA from Europe, we're going to see many of them dominate the NBA and be key pieces of Championship teams, but if Teague is right, losing out on that opportunity isn't going to bother them too much.
