NBA Reveal Latest MVP Rankings: New Face Sitting at No. 1
Mar 27, 2026
The 2025/26 NBA season has been one of the most exciting in recent memory, and with the top four teams in each conference presenting genuine NBA Championship threats, the next few months are set to be just as exciting. Despite the fact that the regular season is set to end in just a few weeks, the Most Valuable Player race is still wide open, with some of the top players in the game still putting their case forward.
For the most part this year, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the favorite to go back-to-back with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but now, that may not be so certain. Recently, Luka Doncic has catapulted himself to the upper echelon of the MVP race, as he continues to lead the league in scoring, giving SGA, Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama genuine competition.
However, he sits at No. 4 in NBA.com's latest MVP rankings, and unlike recent weeks, it's no longer the reigning MVP at the top, as the San Antonio Spurs star now finds himself in that No. 1 spot.
Unlike SGA, Jokic and Doncic, Wembanyama is not only an offensive force, but also a favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, and with the Spurs in the No. 2 seed in the West, it's easy to see why he's climbed the rankings for NBA.com.

Ultimately, this race is likely to go down to the final few days of the season, and while it's Wembanyama today, that doesn't mean he'll be in the same spot by the end of the 2025/26 regular season.
