NBA Insider Reveals Major Update On Jayson Tatum's Return From Injury
Feb 9, 2026
Some expected the 2025/26 season to be a lost cause for the Boston Celtics, but thus far, the team have been much better than expected as they currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. While some didn't expect Jayson Tatum to return following the achilles injury suffered in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, their success has many in Boston believing that he could be returning at some point this season.
Those expectations have only grown in recent times following a Shams Charania report that revealed Tatum has now officially begun 5-on-5 drills with the Celtics at practice.
Realistically, nobody expected Tatum to be back this season after suffering an injury that takes many more than 12 months to get back from, but from the moment he had surgery, he made it clear that he was targeting this season to return. As of right now, there's still no guarantee that he will take the court for the Celtics in the regular or post season, but given his impressive recovery thus far, there are many that see him being back in Boston's lineup before their 2025/26 campaign comes to an end.

Ultimately, if Tatum can return, it may be the boost that this Celtics team needs to make a genuine run at the 2026 NBA Championship, and while no one would blame him for not returning, the latest signs are strong that we may see him in the NBA again in 2025/26.
