NBA Discussing Another Major Addition To All-Star Weekend For 2027
Feb 19, 2026
The 2026 NBA All-Star weekend was under immense pressure, because after struggling to capture the fans attention in 2025, the league made some changes once again. This time around, it worked in a big way, with the All-Star Game reportedly drawing over 8 million viewers, with the league once again excited about the prospect of the All-Star Game moving forward.
However, the events before the game drew a much smaller audience, with the dunk contest, three-point contest and other events seeming very lackluster in comparison. Now, reports have emerged that another change could be on the way, with Front Office Sports reporting that the NBA is considering finally adding either a 1v1 or a 2v2 tournament to All-Star Weekend.
This was recently done by the women's 'Unrivaled' league, and unsurprisingly, it was an incredibly exciting event, with all players involved giving their best in the tournament. It's unclear just how many stars would want to compete in this, and if they did, how seriously they would take it, but if done right, this could be one of the most must-see events on the NBA calendar for years to come if it is brought in by Adam Silver and the NBA.

Ultimately, this is something that fans have been begging for for years, and if we got some of the best All-Stars in the league battling it out 1v1, or even 2v2, it would be a massive win for the NBA if it was done correctly.
