Jalen Brunson Discusses His Next Contract With The New York Knicks
Feb 19, 2026
The New York Knicks were an organization struggling for direction for the longest time, but then came Jalen Brunson, who signed a massive free agency deal with the team in the summer of 2023. While some considered it an overpay, the Knicks believed in Brunson, and just a few years later, he's a perennial All-NBA player, and has taken the Knicks to the playoffs in every season he's been in the Big Apple.
In the summer of 2024, Brunson signed a major extension with New York, keeping him a Knick for a further four years, but in the process, he sacrificed financially, giving up $113 million so the Knicks can use that money elsewhere. Many saw this as an amazing move on Brunson's part, and while he's got loyalty to the Knicks, he's hoping that on his next deal, they repay him that loyalty, as he reveals in his latest comments.
"Obviously, I'd love for the Knicks to do right by me."
Since arriving in New York, Brunson has averaged 27 points and 7 assists, and in the post-season, he consistently takes his game to another level for this once struggling organization, becoming beloved by one of the most loyal fanbases in sports.

Ultimately, Brunson has been nothing but loyal to this organization ever since arriving, and after he took a massive pay cut to help them out, it's more likely than not that they'll help him out when his current deal is up.
