Luka Doncic Hits 60 As Lakers Win Eighth Straight Game
Mar 20, 2026
Luka Doncic delivered the second-highest scoring performance of the NBA season Thursday, pouring in 60 points as the Los Angeles Lakers pulled away from the Miami Heat 134-126 to win their eighth consecutive game.
Doncic shot 18-of-30 from the field, 9-of-17 from three, and hit 15 of 19 free throw attempts, while adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals as he helped the Lakers extend their winning streak. LA trailed by 13 after the first quarter and found themselves down 65-59 at the half before outscoring Miami 38-23 in the third to take control for good.
LeBron James continued to turn back time, posting his second triple-double of the season with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Austin Reaves added 18 and Marcus Smart contributed 13 off the bench. Bam Adebayo, who just nine days earlier dropped a stunning 83 points, led Miami with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

Doncic has led the Lakers in scoring in all but one of their last sixteen games. Since February 20, the Lakers guard has scored over 30 nine times, over 40 on five occasions, and twice broken the 50-point mark. Last night’s 60-point effort matched his 60-point triple-double outing against the New York Knicks in 2022 while he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks.
The eight-game winning streak has been more than just Doncic’s brilliance. The Lakers are shooting efficiently, playing team defense, and getting contributions from everyone on the floor. Early questions about how the Doncic-Reaves-James trio would fit together have largely been answered with Reaves emerging as a consistent second option and James settling into a complementary role, something that, while it may be unfamiliar, is exactly what the Lakers need from arguably one of the greatest players of all time at this point in his career.
With favorable matchups ahead, squaring off against the Orlando Magic, who are on a three-game slide, the Detroit Pistons, who are without their leader, Cade Cunningham, and a set of games against the bottom-feeding Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets, and Washington Wizards, Los Angeles is positioning itself as a genuine Western Conference contender down the stretch.
Considering the Lakers' upcoming schedule and how hot he has been as of late, don’t be surprised to see Doncic continue his dominant scoring ways and maybe even challenge Adebayo’s 83-point night.
