Jalen Williams Addresses Jared McCain's Fit In Oklahoma City
Feb 11, 2026
The Oklahoma City Thunder went all the way in 2025 to claim their first NBA Championship in franchise history, and in 2026, many believe that they've got the fire power to go back-to-back. With a roster that includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Lu Dort and many others, this is a team that's just built for long-term success, even in the incredibly loaded Western Conference.
While they didn't make a blockbuster deal at the 2026 trade deadline, they made some solid moves, with the most notable being the acquisition of former first-round pick Jared McCain. Despite being fantastic for the Philadelphia 76ers in his rookie campaign, McCain was dealt after the team drafted VJ Edgecombe in the first round in 2025, but according to Jalen Williams, he'll fit right in with the Thunder.
“He fits right in. Our team is very easy to fit.. especially if you’re young, our team is really easy to get along with. It’s just one of our super powers. And he’s a really good kid.”
In two games since being acquired, McCain has averaged six points in just 14 minutes per night, but given the depth he provides, he was well worth the first-round pick that the team gave up to acquire him.

Long term, McCain is the perfect fit for the Thunder, and if he can improve upon the potential he's already shown at the NBA level, this is a player that could be a consistent threat for a good team for a long time to come.
