Former NBA Point Guard Discusses Lakers Hot Streak

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a bit of a hot streak. As of Wednesday, they’ve won six straight games and have climbed their way into the third spot in the Western Conference standings. They have a record of 43-25 and are 9-1 in their last ten games. While they certainly aren’t the favorites to come out of the West, they’ve now proven themselves to be a possible title contender this season.

Former NBA veteran point guard Raymond Felton recently spoke about the Lakers' elevated play.
“Deandre Ayton has been playing some great basketball. He’s been a monster on the boards, these last few games he’s been dominating guys, like, he’s been playing very athletic, strong down there in the paint. Like, running the floor, like, that’s the person wanted to see. If he’s playing like that and you got Luka, AR and LeBron on the same page. Marcus Smart going to do all the dirty work, he going to hit open threes, like, you got guys who are the right role players too.”
The issue with the Lakers all season has been the play of their role players. Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have been incredible all season long. LeBron James has been a bit more up and down, but has always been a positive contributor when on the court.
The questions have always been from their role players. If the Lakers role players can star in their roles, the sky is the limit for the team’s success. They have the star power, but it will be whether guys like Ayton or Smart can star in doing the little things.
