Damian Lillard Trying To Tempt Former Teammate To Come To Portland
Feb 3, 2026
Over the past few weeks, the speculation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo has been non-stop, with the two-time MVP likely to be on the move. The Milwaukee Bucks star is drawing immense interest from around the league, and with teams like the Knicks, Warriors and others involved, the asking price is likely going to be very, very high.
One team that has emerged as a dark-horse is the Portland Trail Blazers, with NBA reporter Jake Fischer now revealing that former teammate Damian Lillard is trying to convince Antetokounmpo to join him in Portland.
Realistically, this isn't a team that could win an NBA Championship right now, but on paper, this could actually be a very solid fit for the two-time MVP. While the Trail Blazers are still a very, very young team, they could make an intriguing offer to Milwaukee, and after landing the Bucks picks in the Lillard deal, their offer of those draft picks could be very tempting.

As of right now, it's unclear just how interested the Blazers are, but given their young names and their draft picks, reuniting Antetokounmpo with Lillard and Jrue Holliday could be a franchise changing move for the organization. Ultimately, the Blazers are certainly a long shot to land Antetokounmpo, as he likely wants to land in a big market with a shot at an NBA Championship right now, but if the bond between he and Lillard is strong, there's a chance a move could be made here.
