Mikal Bridges Signs Massive Contract Extension With the Knicks

The New York Knicks have taken huge strides forward to turn their franchise around in recent years, with All-NBA point guard Jalen Brunson blossoming into one of the league's best players. Beyond Brunson, the Knicks have built a solid core of Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges, with the future looking incredibly bright.

Now, according to top NBA Insider Shams Charania, the team has locked in the latter on a four-year contract extension worth $150 million.

The deal also includes a player option for the 2029/30 season, and with the rest of their top five players all locked in to long-term deals, this gives the Knicks a solid core as they look to chase their first NBA title since 1973.

While the regular season wasn't the most dominant in Bridges' career as he adapted to playing alongside Brunson and Towns, he posted a solid 16 a night during the postseason and showed his excellent two-way game. Now, the Knicks have the core of Towns, Brunson, Bridges, and Anunoby locked in for multiple years, with the team looking to take the next step in 2025/26.

The questions will always be there over Bridges after the Knicks gave up five first-round picks to get him, but if he continues his postseason play, he could become a focal point of this offense. At $150 million, he'll be expected to play that role moving forward and will have the pressure of the league's most significant market on his shoulders. However, as of now, he has shown that he's up to the task and will continue to grow moving forward.
