Michael Porter Jr. Makes Massive Statement About Former Teammate Nikola Jokic
Sep 1, 2025
Michael Porter Jr. was traded by the Denver Nuggets earlier this off-season, with the team upgrading around superstar Nikola Jokic. Since departing, Porter has been on a wild run of interviews and comments on social media, with many calling out some of the idiotic things he's said, most not relating to basketball.
However, his latest comments are related to the sport he plays and his former teammate Jokic, who Porter Jr. had the highest possible praise for.
According to MPJ, Nikola Jokic is the greatest player to ever play basketball, as the former Nuggets forward gave his reasoning for it.
“The reason I say that is because he could have won MVP five years in a row. Can you name another player who could’ve won MVP five years?”
While it's admirable that Porter has such high praise for his former star teammate, there are two players that quickly come to mind that could have won five MVP's straight: LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Those two are widely considered the greatest players in NBA history, but given the level that Jokic has been at recently, it wouldn't surprise he if ended his career in the top-10.

Despite finishing runner up in MVP voting, Jokic averaged an incredible 30/13/10 this past season, and when it's all said and done, he could be the greatest centre in NBA history. For now though, he's not approaching the levels of James or Jordan, but for Porter Jr., it's no surprise he feels that way after spending his entire career alongside No. 15.
