Golden State Warriors Have No Interest In Acquiring Top Suns Star In Kuminga Trade Talks
Aug 20, 2025
The Golden State Warriors have a massive situation on their hands involving Jonathan Kuminga, and one way or another, they feel it needs to be resolved this offseason. While the team has offered him a two-year deal worth $45 million, the player believes he needs a change of scenery, with many expecting a trade to go down at some point.
The two teams most interested in the 22-year-old Kuminga at this point have been the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns, with both making significant offers for the former first-round pick. According to recent reports, the Kings have offered Malik Monk, while the Suns' package included Royce O'Neale and Nick Richards, but to this point, the Warriors have been hesitant to make a deal.
Now, according to Brett Siegel, one player that the Warriors have no interest in including is forward Dillon Brooks, who was just acquired by Phoenix from Houston in the Kevin Durant deal.
Not only that, but the Suns don't want to deal with Brooks, who they see as a key piece of their team going forward, but for whatever reason, the Warriors don't want to acquire him. Despite all the hostility, the Warriors believe that Kuminga can still be a productive piece of their lineup moving forward, and as such, they're not motivated to move him.
Things could change as training camp and the 2025/26 season approach, but after putting up 15 points a night last season, the Warriors still believe in Kuminga and see him as a key piece of their future, so don't expect a trade anytime soon.
